Pirates Land Luke Weaver In Bullpen Boost

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired Luke Weaver from the Mets at the trade deadline. The 32-year-old right-hander has a 1.84 ERA this season. He adds a significant boost to the Pirates bullpen.

Weaver posted a 0.82 WHIP with 45 strikeouts over 44 innings. The Pirates needed a right-hander for late innings. Gregory Soto and Mason Montgomery split save chances before.

Weaver should figure into the saves mix immediately. He may take over as the primary option. Pittsburgh made a move to strengthen their relief corps.
