Newcastle United Appoints Matthias Jaissle as New Head Coach

Newcastle United have announced Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach. The appointment comes after Eddie Howe's departure late last month. Jaissle signed a contract with the Premier League club.

The 38-year-old German manager was linked to the job immediately after Howe left. Jaissle previously managed Red Bull Salzburg and Al-Ahli. He won consecutive Asian Champions League Elite trophies with Al-Ahli.

Newcastle completed a thorough recruitment process before selecting Jaissle. The club's sporting director Ross Wilson led the search. Wilson confirmed Jaissle's football philosophy matches the club's vision.

Jaissle's first match will be a friendly against Valencia. Newcastle also face Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, and Strasbourg in pre-season. The Premier League campaign starts at home to Liverpool on August 23.

Jaissle's Coaching Record and Philosophy

Jaissle began his coaching career with Liefering in 2021. He soon replaced Jesse Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg. He led Salzburg to the Champions League knockout phase for the first time.

He won the Austrian Bundesliga in both seasons at Salzburg. His teams play high-energy, intense football. He emphasizes togetherness, hard work, and daily improvement.

Newcastle's Transfer Window Challenges

Jaissle faces immediate challenges in the transfer market. Newcastle are set to lose Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal. Sandro Tonali has moved to Spurs and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.
