West Ham have sealed the signing of free agent Joel Veltman. The ex-Brighton defender signed a one-year contract. He joins Nuno Espirito Santo's Championship squad.
Veltman left Brighton earlier this summer. He rejected a new contract to pursue other opportunities. The defender penned an emotional farewell letter on social media.
Tottenham should have signed Ivan Toney when he left Brentford in 2024. Former Spurs scout Bryan King says he was perfect for the club.

Veltman Expresses Excitement for Challenge
"I'm delighted to have signed," said Joel Veltman. "The project here really excites me. Everything added up after speaking with Nuno and my agent."
Veltman knows West Ham must return to the Premier League. "That is our goal for the season," he said. The defender brings leadership and winning mentality to the squad.
"I bring my experience and togetherness," Veltman stated. "I enjoy talking to my teammates and using my experience. I'm excited to give everything for the club."
The Dutch defender looks forward to meeting his new teammates. He also wants to see the West Ham supporters. His leadership qualities will help the promotion push.
West Ham's Busy Transfer Window Continues
West Ham sanctioned departures of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes. The combined fees reached approximately £145 million. The club needs new signings before the window closes.
West Ham activated their £1 million option for Keiber Lamadrid. The Venezuelan winger joined permanently from Deportivo La Guaira. The club also talks with Celtic over Arne Engels.
Standard Sport reported West Ham enquired about midfielder Engels. Negotiations are not yet advanced. The Hammers expect to push for his signing.
West Ham sanctioned Fernandes' £85 million departure to Tottenham. Mexico captain Edson Alvarez also attracts interest. Real Sociedad and Ajax reportedly want the midfielder.
